Human Rights?

I don't get it. About a month ago, President Bush basically went to Saudi Arabia and begged them to pump more oil. He got the back of King Abdullah's hand. This from a country where they have separate roads for non Muslims around Mecca, and where a court sentenced a 19-year-old rape victim to 200 lashes and six months in jail.

Upon his return to the US, the President proceeded to lash out at he Castro regime about denial of "Human Rights." I bet the average Cuban has 100 times the rights of a woman in Saudi Arabia! What a country.....

Social Insecurity

At the rate we're going, Social Security will be 2/3 of the budget by the time I get much of it. It's a Ponzi Scheme, and the Congress has absolutely abandoned it's duties to us. IMHO, we need to do maybe 5 things to cure the problem.

First, raise the retirement age. People live longer now. No reason it shouldn't be 70 for early benefits, and 72 for full benefits.

Next, take the lid off the taxes; why stop at $100k a year? Let Kobe and Danica and Madonna pay in 14% of their income, like Warren Buffet's secretary does!

How about making it means tested? I know sounds like a commie pinko plan, but the fact is that everybody pays taxes too, so those who say "I paid in, I'm entitled to my share" have no better argument than I do to a retired F-14; I paid for it, I deserve it. If you have enough, be happy. And don't tell me about enabling those who are lazy and want to leech off others! We can figure out a way to pull this off in a fair way.

I'm mad as hell and I guess I'll take more

Here we are, 30 years after a million Russians were poised to pour through the Fulda Gap opposed by V Corps. They had 25,000 nuclear weapons headed straight at us. Some people thought they were 9 feet tall, but on 11/9/89 the Berlin Wall was dismantled. in 1995, everybody thought that Japan, and MITI, along with the keiretsu would conquer us, before they imploded. They are barely Five Five. On 9/11/2001 19 Saudis and 2 others destroyed the WTC, wreaking havoc among us and our government. Since then we have commenced the "Global War on Terror" and to date, have succeeded in ousting Saddam Hussein, and upending the Middle East. But where has our "success" taken us?

I might be named an "Enemy Combatant" and until last week, I could be put in a cell with no chance of judicial review, no nothing. We have doubled the debt, and there is no "Death Tax" but there is a Birth Tax of about 50 grand a kid; who will pay that? There are a number of other rambling thoughts I have and maybe someday I'll be as famous as Charles Johnson. Until then, suffer with me as I point out the unmet needs and aspirations of a frustrated and long suffering Cubs fan.
